Alexis is an alumnus of Arizona State University where she received her BA in Theatre Arts with a minor in Communication. She also holds an MFA in Acting from Brown University/Trinity Rep. While at Arizona State, Alexis began her journey into community engagement and art activism working for ASU Gammage's Cultural Participation Department.

In 2020, Alexis began working for artEquity where she still currently serves as the Director of Programs. Serving as part of artEquity’s leadership team, she provides guidance and supervision for artEquity’s national programs centering antiracism and resources for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color in the arts and culture section and also manages consulting relationships with major theatres, museums, universities, and other cultural organizations.
